Oatmeal

Oatmeal is by far the easiest breakfast to make (besides cereal or a piece of toast). Does it need its own slide in my blog? Probably not... but here we go anyway.

For stovetop oatmeal, I use 1/2 cup rolled oats for 3/4 cup water (per person). For microwave, I use  a heaping 1/3 cup quick oats, just under 1/3 cup water, and just under 1/3 milk (very specific I know). I then microwave for 1 min and 30 seconds.

Toppings are everything. I often don't have fresh fruit hanging around because fruit is expensive. My go to topping as a university student are pre-chopped pecans, golden sugar, and homemade apple butter (which I'll get to later). I also always do heavy/whipping cream which makes it absolutely delicious.

Peanut butter or nutella is also a favourite and an excellent and fun substitute for regular sugar.
